things long forgotten, things unbeknownst
Two people over the last two days have stopped me in my emotional tracks with remembrances and revelations. The remembrance, virtually forgotten or at least blocked out on my behalf, had been gnawing at this person's conscience for the last 25 years. The revelation, involving an event from long, long ago, was at the same time, disturbing and enlightening. I realize this is all very cryptic, but the people, places and events are not important to anyone that might be reading this. What is important is to remember that things that have occurred throughout your life or the lives of generations before you and words that might have been said in the heat of the moment become a part of who we are. Whether we realize (or like) it or not. The remembrance and the revelation gave me deeper insight into how this person became the amazingly strong human being that they are today. And for that matter, who I am.
